One foggy day in Ely...

Whilst visiting the cathedral...

One day I was visiting the cathedral in Ely, and the day was very foggy. That is great occasion to take some moody pictures, I thought to myself. In Ely there's very old cathedral that has been built there more than 1000 years ago.

Because I like the architecture, I did it again... I've started taking pictures of the walls, of the old buildings - very old buildings. And again, only me who likes to watch them! I have never met anyone else who likes taking picture of the walls (!). It seems that it doesn't matter to anyone neither the age of the building or the history behind it. That's important to me though...

I like this one....

Inside the cathedral

There's a beautiful ceiling. Is it composed as a structure of arches and windows. The light that is coming inside the building creates great reflections on the walls and on the floor.

On the below picture I've tried to capture the balance between the dark and lighten up parts. Nowadays new churches are not remotely close to those from the past. The good thing is, that new generations are starting coming back to the real architecture. Btw. I heard a conversation on the street in London of random people who loudly discussed the terrible aluminium/glass combination of the modern buildings in London...Well done! Finally!

And the last picture

Here is a cathedral in its full potential. It is accompanied with a neighboring tree that leans nicely over its silhouette emerging from the fog..

To fully embrace its monumental strength and its greatness, I have decided to keep in a warmtone mood. The Foma paper was very helpful in achieving that. The colors here are slightly not true as there was no warmness in the air. It was quite the opposite, damp and cold, but who cares! This is my interpretation of the moment!

I hope you like it...
